Pilates FAQs

Q: What the heck is Pilates anyway?
A: Pilates (puh-la-teez) is a form of physical conditioning designed to stretch, strengthen, and lengthen the muscles of the body with a focus on the core: the abdominals, lower back, and butt. It’s named after its creator, Joseph Pilates.

Q: Why should I do Pilates?
A: In today’s world, taking time for oneself to focus on physical and mental health is paramount in order to relieve stress and have the strength and energy to keep up! My clients report that their hour-long sessions take them away from their daily worries and into a focused place. The breathing alone oxygenates the body, increasing circulation and loosening tight muscles. The core work increases balance and strengthens the muscles around the spine. This results in better posture, reduced lower back pain, and a stronger pelvic floor. These long-term benefits combined with the sexy, streamlined muscle tone make it time well spent. You’ll leave every session feeling taller, more serene, and energized…and it’s fun!

Q: Can I afford Pilates?
A: I am a firm believer that you have to make your exercise program realistic for you. To be doable, it needs to be affordable and convenient. I offer an Intro Package of 5 private sessions at my studio for $325. This discounted first package gives you the chance to try out Pilates, the one-on-one setting, and experience working with me. I like to do these sessions in a 30-day period. In this short month, you will see and feel results and get to know the value of the work.
